Who We Are

Explore, learn about and purchase hand-made, indigenous art from Panama here at Panama Arts.

We have traveled to several of the San Blas islands to bring you beautiful, traditional molas directly from the indigenous Kuna artists. Our molas are top quality having been assessed for high layer count, consistent and penetrating stitching, design symmetry and border detail. Each mola pairing is highly collectible as it was featured in a blouse previously worn by each artist. Our molas were not made for the tourist industry.

Our molas are presented in groupings according to the island on which they were purchased within the many islands of the San Blas Archipelago, Panama. We are excited to be able to supply you with a bit of information on each mola including its origin, maker and design significance. We respect each artist as such and we hope that shows.

Within Kuna society the practice of photographing the face is largely taboo. You will, as a result, be taken to the islands and these amazing artists via written description and photography that captures all but the beautiful faces of the Kuna people.

What is a mola, you ask?

Please browse each of our galleries at left to see this amazing art form and read a bit about its history. We hope enjoy your time with us.
