This mola illustrates a Kuna legend that can be found in parts in various mola design. Here a young man and his brothers are sung to by birds. The birds tell a tale that the woman he has known as his mother is not. He is told through the bird song that his true mother is dead, however if he will go to a special garden described in the song he will find a medicinal plant to bring their mother back to life. The plant is tobacco and it sits in the center of the mola with four protective spirits inhabiting the four corners.
